Now that summer is over, we are taking time to reflect on some of the cool things that happened these last few months.
Summer activities in Alaska are all about getting the most out of the outdoors:
fishing, camping, and hiking, and eating outdoors. However, the pandemic put some hitches in our Alaskan summer, including our dining experiences. COVID-19 has changed many things, but Alaskans are known for their resiliency and ingenuity, even before experiencing a global pandemic. And, as Alaskans, we have found ways to adapt, while still enjoying our summer dining staples, like having pizza at Moose’s Tooth and Bear Tooth.
Every Alaskan will tell you that pizza and a beer, or two, at Moose’s Tooth or Bear Tooth is a summer must. While grabbing a pizza and growler to-go is well and good, everyone was tired of eating at home within their pandemic nucleus. Plus, there is something distinctly Alaskan about enjoying that seemingly endless sunshine while having pizza and a beer. Even in the midst of navigating a pandemic, the locally infamous lines towards a well-deserved pizza feast still ranged well outside each establishment’s door (with each party spaced six feet apart, of course).
Skurla’s got the call from Moose’s Tooth and Bear Tooth on a Thursday afternoon with their idea to put up a “pop-up” beer garden at each establishment. Immediately, we knew how we could meet their needs. That following day we set up a wireless system via tablet that allowed each venue to have their beer garden ready to go for the just-off-of-work, Friday night crowd.
As a local, Alaskan business, Skurla’s understands the importance of providing timely and efficient service to our customers. We have the technology and skills to make your ideas come to life. They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, but, if Rome asked us, we know we could have their point of sale systems installed within twenty-four hours ready in time for beer and pizza under the tent or sitting out in the sun.
