This may seem obvious, but it is worth repeating!

We hear this frequently -  a customer  has to replace their cash drawer (or sometimes even an entire Point of Sale workstation) because someone broke into their store or restaurant and stole or vandalized the cash register/cash/drawer, etc. just to get at the cash.  So leave your cash drawers open!

Pro Tip: Always leave the cash drawer open with the till exposed. This way intruders will immediately know that there is no cash in the drawer and often will leave the register/point of sale equipment alone.

Too many times, businesses have their registers or point of sale systems destroyed or stolen on the chance there may be cash left in the drawer.
