Skurla's POS Solution's founder, Phyllis Skurla turns 90 July 5th!
My mom and dad founded Skurla's Cash Register Company in 1976, in the basement of their home in Anchorage, Alaska. As the business moved around "Spenard", so did their influence in the point of sale community - across the state and with their membership in ICRDA (now RSPA). Our family grew up alongside this business and Skurla's was always an integral part of our lives (and still is for me!)
Phyllis greeted every customer with a smile and a kind word. She loved the employees and remembered them with small gifts and tokens on holidays - flowers on Valentine's Day and Shamrock Shakes on St. Patty's Day - to mention a few. And she managed the business with a firm, yet gentle hand until the day she retired.
Today, her influence continues, as we all remember and try to emulate her grace, kindness, and professionalism - and her great sense of humor! (Ask Jesse Dison about the time she tried to decaffeinate him!)
So Happy Birthday, Mom! From all of us in the Skurla's family!
I know that my mom would love to hear from those that she worked with over the years.
